Full Time Bookkeeper

Christopher Weil & Company, Inc. (“WEIL”) is a registered investment advisor located in Carmel Valley, California. Our primary business is providing financial advice and investment management for individuals and families seeking economic independence.

WEIL is currently seeking to add a full time bookkeeper to our team to work with multiple entities.  This position is responsible for performing general accounting duties and reports to the Staff Accountant and CFO.


Candidates should have familiarity with bookkeeping and basic accounting procedures and experience in A/P, Inter-company Account Activity and Reconciliations. Experience with QuickBooks Online, Excel and Word a plus. We are looking for a detail-oriented, highly organized, dependable person with strong communication skills and aptitude for numbers.  The right candidate possesses an ability to work in an open-platform team atmosphere and is capable of managing work load and prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced environment. Should be kind and good-natured, and in particular, respectful of everyone's right to work in a diverse and welcoming work space.

Position will require occasional, fully reimbursed, travel to/from a resort operated in Borrego Springs, approximately 75 miles from our corporate offices.


Tasks include:

  • Reviewing invoices and check requests for appropriate documentation and approvals.

  • Coding and entering vendor bills into QuickBooks based on due dates for weekly processing.

  • Processing invoices for payment and reconciling discrepancies, working with vendors as needed.

  • Performing weekly check runs and disbursements.

  • Responding to vendors regarding questions on purchases and payments.

  • Assisting with 1099 tracking, preparation, and filing.

  • Recording journal entries for automatic transactions.

  • Tracking, preparing, and sending rent increase letters and late notices to retail tenants.

  • Assisting the Accounting Department with generating analysis spreadsheets as needed.

  • Assisting with gathering internal and external data and generating reports as needed.

  • Providing accounting and clerical support to the accounting department, including maintaining accounting records, as needed.

  • Invoicing clients and intercompanies, as needed.

  • Creating and processing recurring money movement transactions, including wires and intercompany journals, as needed.
