Jonathan Strauss, CFP
Financial Advisor, Advisory Team Manager
Jon comes to WEIL with a background in technology consulting. As his career advanced, he found himself troubled by the idea that he did not have a good handle on how to make optimal investment and financial decisions and became curious about the various strategies he could use to set his family up for a successful economic future. This curiosity led to a passion for learning the “ins and outs” of financial planning and the desire to spread his knowledge to others. In 2016, he joined the WEIL team as a Financial Advisor and began learning the business from the ground up. He now considers himself an expert in account administration, investment allocations, and other elements of financial planning and takes particular pride in navigating the complex psychology of managing other people’s hard-earned money.
Fast forward to today and Jon has earned his Certified Financial Planner™ designation, become a Registered Investment Advisor Representative, graduated from the Executive Financial Planning program at San Diego State University, and became a “Trusted Charitable Advisor” at the Jewish Community Foundation.
With a specific interest in promoting financial literacy, Jon volunteers with Just In Time for Foster Youth in their Financial Fitness program. He serves as an advisor to the program and directly mentors two foster youth participants. Working to spread financial literacy in his local community is one of his biggest joys in life.
Jon lives in La Jolla with his wife, Mary (also a member of the WEIL team), and their beloved Maltipoo, Lady. In his free time, he enjoys golfing, surfing, and all things sports (Go Lakers!).
